Microneedle (Microarray) Technology

Have you ever wondered how your skincare products actually work once you apply them?

Let’s take a closer look at your skin—and why a new innovation, microneedle patches or microarray patches, might be the game-changer you’ve been waiting for.

Understanding Your Skin Barrier and Ingredient Absorption

Our skin is made up of three main layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous fat. The epidermis is the outermost layer and acts as the body’s first line of defense, protecting us from external threats like pollution and bacteria. It’s built like a brick wall: the “bricks” are corneocytes (dead skin cells), and the “mortar” holding them together is made of fats like ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids.

For skincare ingredients to actually work, they need to pass through this tough barrier and reach the deeper layers of the skin. To do this, the ingredients must:

  • Be fat-loving (lipophilic) like the skin’s surface
  • Have a pH similar to skin (between 4.6 and 5.5)
  • Be small enough (under 500 Daltons in molecular weight)

However, even with the right properties, it takes time for ingredients to penetrate and be absorbed. Some may even evaporate within minutes after application.

That’s why it’s important to apply a moisturizer after your serum—the oils, silicones, and waxes in moisturizers have larger molecular weights, allowing them to stay on the skin and create a seal, locking in active ingredients and giving them more time to be absorbed.

Why Skincare Patches Were Developed

Certain skin problems, such as acne and dark spots, need enough active ingredients to reach the affected area to be effective. Skincare patches were developed to help with this by sealing the area, making it easier for active ingredients to stay in place and absorb into the skin without being rubbed off or washed away during your daily routine.

While traditional patches improve delivery, they still rely on passive absorption through the skin barrier.

Microarray Patches: A Skincare Breakthrough

Microarray patches take skincare to the next level—and they’re quickly becoming a hot trend, not just in beauty, but also in medical research (scientists are even studying them for vaccine delivery!).

So, what exactly are microarray patches?

Think of them as a smarter version of regular skincare patches. Instead of simply sitting on top of your skin and waiting for active ingredients to slowly seep between the “bricks” of your skin barrier, microneedle patches use tiny dissolvable needles to create direct pathways for ingredients to reach deeper layers.

Each patch is filled with hundreds of tiny needles (about 300μm tall) that gently poke through the skin barrier, creating micro-channels that allow active ingredients to bypass the outer layer and get to work faster and more effectively.

Don’t worry—it doesn’t hurt!
Because the needles are so small and only pierce the very top layers, you’ll feel little to no pain, just a slight tingling sensation as the patch does its magic.

Why You’ll Love Microarray Patches

Faster Results
Active ingredients get delivered deeper and faster than traditional creams or serums— giving you quicker, more noticeable results.

Targeted Treatment
Microarray patches focus on specific areas, provide precise and targeted care, delivering active ingredients exactly where your skin needs them most.

Painless & Gentle
Tiny needles, powerful results. A comfortable way to boost your skincare.

Super Convenient
Stick it on, leave it for a few hours (or overnight), and peel it off—no complicated steps, no mess.
